Major oil manufacturers, including Polytron, classify and brand products according to international SAE and API standards, which makes it easier to assess their quality level.

Based on your car's engine and environmental temperature requirements, engine oil is chosen based on 2 main criteria:

  • viscosity according to the SAE classification
  • the level of API or ACEA operating characteristics

Its viscosity and temperature dependence over a wide range (from ambient temperature to cold start in winter to oil temperature at maximum engine load in summer) are some of the main characteristics of engine oil.

For engines whose construction is different, the temperature ranges that ensure the capacity of the oil in this class according to the SAE differ substantially. These depend on the power of the starter and many other construction, technological and operational factors.
